He meant to say 96 vs. 64 ounces, not quarts. 96 quarts? That’s like 24 gallon auto gas tank size.

i have a Vita Prep 3,its a comerical unit with 3 horse,i like the Vita Mix better because it does not have a digital pad, wich means the Vita will last much longer, i like how you can control speed on the Vita mix with a turn of the nob, wich means alot more control, less thinking! i have seen problems with the Blendtec but never seen problems with Vita Mix, i have seen with the higher amps in the Blendtec it can trip the ciruit breaker,i think the simpler the better, less things that can break!

@RawFoodGuy99 guys… Monarch is right, the Blendtec is a better buy. More bang for your buck, it’s a hybrid commercial/home blender that doesn’t oxidize the food as much as the Vitamix. If it “shorts out” then that’s what the warranty is for. BTW, if you buy your Blendtec at one of the live shows they will match or exceed Vitamix’s warranty, so if something goes wrong, you’ll be fine. It will only be a matter of time before they outright match Vitamix’s warranty online too.

Thanks guys for your comparison video, very helpful.
Can I ask a question? I’m probably going to go for the blendtec but my concern is this: what sort of “minimum quantity” is there? Because mostly it won’t be for making soup for a whole party, it’ll be a bit of grinding or making a small amount of houmous for me and my wife. Is there a particular volume that’s actually too small to blend effectively in the 96 quart jug?

@RawFoodGuy99 I have a Blendtec that I bought a while ago, and it had a defective design of the bearing and seal at the base. The seal leaks. The bearing rusts, and you have to buy another jug ($70). The new design jug has a slightly diff design that is suppose to last only 20% longer.
Don’t take a chance with the Blendjunk blender. Buy the Vitamix.

@jjhaywood ,its not about more bag for your buck, its about quality, anyway Vita has alot of bang for the buck,as for the warranty im sure when Bland tec matchs Vita ,Vita will extend there warranty! i repeat,i have seen problems with Blend Tec but not Vita! Use them side by side and you can hear the difference in quality! Like a Ford to a Lexus! Buy what you want …Read (CoolasIce2) comment !

@CoolasIce2, you are full of nonsense. Feature by feature, the Blendtec wins hands down. I have two Blendtec units, and 5 carafs, use them multiple times every single day, and have never had a problem with anything. If you genuinely have an issue with the Blendtec caraf, send it in immediately for replacement, and stop spouting off nonsense. The VM is a good blender, but when you try to compare it to a Blendtec, it is an embarrasing POS. Blendtec is ridiculously better than Vitamix!

@Saladzingers, there is a “minimum” to any blender’s effectiveness, and this is especially true for the Vitamix. However, I use the 96 oz. caraf for just my girlfriend and I, and when we blend small amounts, including thick, pasty items like hummus, it has not been a problem. When making hummus, you will need a spatula with either VM or Blendtec, but the Blendtec will work faster and easier than the Vitamix, and will clean up much easier than the Vitamix.

@RawFoodGuy99, your statement lacks logic and common sense. If thinking is that critical to you when blending, then the buttons are going to be easier. Press a button, and you are done, and the Blendtec will automatically shut off. The Vitamix requires constant babysitting, and the antiquated manual knobs and switches will not only wear out faster, but are much harder to keep clean and sanitary when working with messy ingredients. The Blendtec cleans up much faster and easier than the VM.

@RawFoodGuy99, the Vita Prep 3 is no competition for the Blendtec. Besides, if Vitamix ever stress tested any of their machines with the same outrageous tests that Blendtec machines have been subjected to, Vitamix machines would quickly be destroyed, including your Vita Prep 3. It is interesting that you state “simpler is better”, yet the Vitamix is far more fussier than the Blendtec. Also, with the Vitamix, you have to use a silly tamper. How embarrasing and pathetic!

@PE425 What do you mean I’m full of nonsense? Are you saying my carafe and other people’s carafes didn’t leak and seize up? Do you mean I and other people are imagining the problem? Do you mean I spent $70 for a new carafe for nothing? Hmmm. I’ll have to reconsider. Thanks for bringing me down to Earth.
June 17th, 2010 on 1:13 am
@PE425 ,do you work for Blendtec ??
June 18th, 2010 on 8:14 am
@CoolasIce2, Yes I am saying that they didn’t leak. Blendtec carafs don’t leak because they are sealed. Whereeas, Vitamix carafs are NOT sealed. Because VM has 4-prong blades, they are required by FDA regulations to have a removable blade and gasket. If anything can leak, it is Vitamix.
June 18th, 2010 on 8:19 am
@RawFoodGuy99 No, I don’t work for Blendtec, but they should be paying me. I just happen to have researched Blendtec and Vitamix far more than the average person in order to get to the facts. No one likes to be duped, especially when they invest a lot of money in something, but that is the frequent case with VM followers. Thanks for not addressing any of my sustaining points you were not equipped to address, which is what led you to the lame question, do I work for Blendtec.
June 20th, 2010 on 12:20 pm
@PE425 ,im just going by what i have seen,i have never seen a problem with a VitaMix,i have seen problems with Blendtec! i don’t agree with you about the Vitamix being far more fussier, you can buy whatever you want !
June 20th, 2010 on 10:00 pm
@RawFoodGuy99 Anyone that has tested both the VM 5200 and the Blendtec before purchasing will clearly see that the VM is fussier, requires more work to use (tamper, a sharp 4-prong blade, etc.), and is a lot harder to clean and store than the Blendtec, especially with new 96 oz caraf. Vitamix ruled for decades, but Blendtec has outclassed, outgunned, and has been on top for the last serveral years! Matt Monarch knows what he is talking about here, whereas the blind followers of Vitamix do not!
June 20th, 2010 on 10:01 pm
@RawFoodGuy99 The VM 5200 NEEDS a tamper to push ingredients down for even some of the most basic tasks, which proves it’s design IS more fussier. Also, cleaning a VM caraf with 4-prong blade in the scrunched bottom is much harder than cleaning the base of a 2-prong caraf with a much wider caraf base. These are just some of the basic facts. With VM, you need two different style carafs for “wet” or “dry” mixes, whereas with the Blendtec, you don’t, which is more proof that VM is more fussier!
June 20th, 2010 on 10:01 pm
@RawFoodGuy99 You are way out of your knowledge range here. VM has changed little from their old, antiquated design over last several years, while Blendtec not only has a far superior product, in addition, they have made far more important innovations (manual control + auto cycles, square caraf for superior blending and easier pouring). Even VM admits that Blendtec’s caraf design is superior, as most of VM’s COMMERCIAL models are now copy-cats of Blendtec with “square” caraf and 2-prong blade!!
June 20th, 2010 on 10:02 pm
@RawFoodGuy99 Wow! I don’t mean to beat up on you here, but you don’t agree that the Vitamix is fussier, because you don’t know what you are talking about, and like most raw foodies, you have an uneducated predisposition towards VM, while in a blender market today, is a clear bias towards VM that is no longer earned. Even with the 96OZ caraf, the Blendtec still fits under a cabinet, and unlike the Vitamix, does not need to be stored somewhere else. Vitamix is much more fussier than Blendtec.
